I grew up by a wide river estuary in eastern England. In 1985 i migrated to Australia – where i’ve lived ever since. I’ve travelled a lot there, and lived in many different places.

In 06 and 07, i worked in Afghanistan for eight months, building community radio stations. After that, i worked in Maningrida, a remote Indigenous community in Australia’s tropical Northern Territory.

I’m currently in England for a while.

I took a lot of photos in my late teens – with an old Russian range finder camera, which i bought second hand. I only took black and white, and i developed them and printed them myself, in an improvised dark room in the cellar of our house. But it was cold in the cellar and, partly as a result of the temperature and partly because i just wasn’t very good at it, my prints never came out all that well.

When i was 20, i moved to London, and a few years later i got involved with a tape-slide newsreel project, at the local community cinema. We’d go out and take slide photos of news stories and record interviews on a cassette machine. We edited these together into a tape-slide show which was shown as part of the nightly program in the cinema.

I didn’t own a camera for well over a decade, until i bought a Fuji S20, at the end of 04. Since that time, i haven’t looked back! A couple of years later, i upgraded to a Nikon D80 – and that camera forced me to learn a lot more about photography. It took a few months to get the hang of it, but i know the photos i’m taking now are the best i’ve ever taken.

Here, you’ll find a selection of photos from Australia, Afghanistan, Spain, England, and Ireland. If you click on any of the thumbnail pictures on this page, you’ll be taken to a page where you can buy prints or postcards of it, or view a larger copy of the photo.
